Aircraft Graveyard

This might sound like a bizarre sense of humour to some, but the exhibits of twisted metal salvaged from the crash site by several Boards of Inquiry, serve as pertinent reminders to those that think they are "God's gift to aviation." However, most importantly, they are used as demo items for the RMAF Inspectorat'e Flight Safety and Accident Investigation courses to use as the demo and practical analysis model.

The collection is quite small but adequate to serve its purpose of generating awe, wonder, worry, disgust and even inspiration. Some souvenir hunters also have found the exhibits useful.

Chairman's Note

Whilst the intention of displaying the abovementioned wreckages for the Flight Safety and Accident Investigation courses was good, the reality was that it was hardly used as such. Instead it was regarded as an eye-sore. Furthermore the Museum was getting short of exhibition space to accommodate the additional number of aircraft and other outdoor exhibits. Hence the Aircraft Graveyard concept was abandoned wef 31 May 98 and the wreckages relegated to the scrap heap. However, these pages are retained for historical purposes.
