Chipmunk

de HAVILLAND DHC-1 CHIPMUNK

Four Chipmunks commenced their services with the Malayan Auxiliary Air Force at Penang on May 5, 1957. They served the force until November 1958. These aircraft were subsequently transferred to The Royal Malayan Air Force. Two aircraft from Kuala Lumpur Flying Club were added to the Chipmunk fleet.
When the RMAF Flying Training School was established at RAF Station Kuala Lumpur in 1960, the first batch of pilots did initial flying training on these aircraft. The Chipmunks were later returned to the Flying Club in 1961.
The Chipmunk in the Museum was donated by the Royal Thai Air Force Museum through the kind arrangement of ACM Gun Pimantip, the RTAF Chief.
