Paris-Langkawi-Paris Air Race 1990

Malaysia Pelangi team made a flying start in the Paris-langkawi-Paris international air race when it won the first sector, in the turboprop category, from Paris to Bahrain which ended on February 7, 1990. Pilots Capt Ismail Abu bakar and Capt Chin Nyok San flew their Dornier 228-202 to finish two hours ahead of the Hors Ligni team from Switzerland in 12 hours 4.8 minutes.

The Royal Malaysian Air Force Chief, Lt Gen Tan Sri Mohamad bin Ngah Said with co-pilot Maj Abas Salimon also participated in a Cessna 402B aircraft.
